Debut album: Svaleheim

Svaleheim features original compositions for voice, cello, guitar, and double bass, offering listeners a richblend of poetic depth and acoustic warmth. Sung in Norwegian,
the songs explore themes of myth, memory, landscape, heritage and belonging.

Svaleheim presents eight captivating and imaginative tracks, infused with such emotional
depth and sensitivity that the listener is gently carried along - invited to lean back and follow the musical journey northward.

Adine Fliid and Adam McKenzie both carry mixed heritage - Norwegian/Danish and
Australian/Danish respectively - and explore this cultural duality through music and
storytelling. With Svaleheim, the duo turns their gaze toward the Nordic landscape,
weaving together original compositions and reflections on the deep connection between people and place.

Adine Fliid’s Norwegian textual universe unfolds in evocative and deeply personal
narratives. Her voice - at once soft, lyrical, and raw - resonates with emotional clarity.
When paired with Adam McKenzie's heartfelt and organic cello performance, the result is
a rare acoustic synergy that invites listeners into a space of quiet intensity and poetic depth.

The album features a dynamic blend of modern, groove-driven compositions for voice,
cello, double bass, and guitar, alongside intimate and emotionally resonant pieces for
voice and cello. This contrast invites the listener into both rhythmic movement and quie closeness - offering a deeply personal musical experience.

Vandringsmann pulses with raw energy and forward motion - marking the beginning of a
journey, like restless wanderers in search of meaning. In Bånsull/Slåttestev, the duo
breathes new life into the ancestral voices of two traditional Norwegian folk songs.
Langangen unfolds like scattered memories from a childhood spent by the fjord that Adine Fliid’s family has called home for generations. In To Hjerteslag, cello and voice
gently reveal that home is not just a place - it can also exist in the emotional space between two beating hearts.

Fliid/McKenzie has a unique sound of their own, yet can appeal to listeners drawn to
artists like Lise Ekdahl, Jan Johansson, Teitur, Nils Frahm, Dreamers Circus, and Ævestaden.
